  1. Wow. Is there any further information on her story? I couldn’t find anything else on the website. I’d love to have her live with me.

  2. Kate,

Dr. Phyllis Chesler wrote about this on her site – http://www.phyllis-chesler.com/ – I don’t see an email address for her there, but if you wanted to find out more, leaving a message on her blog might be worth a try.

  9. her concerns about an honour killing are very real. I hope she will find a safe home. There have been far too many of these killings in the news lately.

  10. Fatima isn’t allowed to be killed if she converts to christianity islam doesn’t allow that on no grounds but yes she should be taught and made to understand that growing up in an upclass lifestyle with pop culture doesn’t play a factor in your belief she has freedom the freedom to believe anything she wishes to believe and she can contemplate on her own antics but if she ever reads this I only have one question for her just one ” our life is purpose driven but religion we consider divine” is religion purpose driven for you?
I am saif hoping to wishing fatima the safest and happy life and hoping that one day the god who created jesus as a messenger and not as a son and the creator of muahammad (pbuh) blesses her with hidaya ( guidance ) ameen

  11. People should be allowed to choose their own religion. Parents shouldn’t object or what. It’s ok to convert if u don’t like the religion. God bless the girl though. (:

  12. If you lived in the Deep South, and Bobbie Joe came home and said he wanted to convert to Islam, you’d probably want to do the same.

  13. what bullcraaap…islam doesnt ask of you to kill someone if they leave islam. Her knowledge of islam is quite limited.

  17. Fatima did not convert to christianity because she was afraid she converted because she knew this is the only way to rebel and hurt her parents, I dont believe that a person of Islam faith would choose just to covert there is more to this story, more than likely she fell in love with someoneo of christian faith or her parents would not allow it, she has taken it to the extreme and even she knows deep in her muslim heart she is wrong and soon enough she will learn that on her own.

  18. I get the feeling that what the pastor and his wife did online was quite like online child predatorship. Being mature people, they should have taken into account that converting a minor from a different faith would bring about many consequences. They should have thought twice before interfering in her personal life and beliefs. I feel they should be booked for endangering her life in such a way. Once she becomes a major, it’s her personal choice, and she has the freedom to choose any faith, though it’d be much easier for her to stick to her family’s beliefs.

  19. From a muslims point of view, there is NO SUCH THING as making someone blood “halal” to be killed because in islam murder is the biggest sin. This girl clearly doesnt know what she’s talking about or her parents didnt give her the proper education which made her afraid or this CLEARLY is another religion….i mean seriously, even the way she’s crying is ridiculous. i’ve lived in america all my life, i was born in the U.S. AND i know that people would love to get dirt on muslims ever since 9/11…..im ALSO 17 years old,and had islamic education and never in my life did i hear about something so outrageous as killing being allowed…ever. thats just plain stupid, no religion allows that. all of this is just fake, and the girl just wants attention. note that she kept on saying “you guys wont understand” well obviously we wont b/c theres no such thing. if there is then let her explain…sure ya i wanna see whats her excuse. All these people who actualy believe this are easily persuaded and just want a reason to hate. i personally have no issues with anyone or any religion, but its just crazy how the media loves to target islam. we dont force ppl to be muslims. if u dont want to then dont. theres no point of forcing. the “good muslims” out there respect others and their religions, its time they get some back.

  20. For all you people who are saying “no one would convert from Islam”, don’t be conceited and think that no one would ever leave your religion, if people can convert to Islam from Christianity, the opposite is also possible. And for all of you who say “there is no such thing as honor killings”, there is, it is something that people who believe in the same version of Islam as Al Queda does think is proper. It’s like during the Inquisitions when Christians thought that they had a free pass to torture people of other religions, except Mosques all around the world aren’t promoting the violent version of Islam, so that version hasn’t become the majority like the violent version of Christianity did back then. You shouldn’t assume you know everything about a religion just because you worship it, if you look you can always find twisted versions. Assuming that people of the same faith as you can’t twist its message is just as bad as assuming that just because a small sect of a religion is violent the rest of the religion is the same.

  21. #19 Really? Explain this, then.

Similarly, IV. 89: “They would have you disbelieve as they themselves have disbelieved, so that you may be all like alike. Do not befriend them until they have fled their homes for the cause of God. If they desert you seize them and put them to death wherever you find them. Look for neither friends nor helpers among them…” Baydawi (died c. 1315-16), in his celebrated commentary on the Koran, interprets this passage to mean: “Whosover turns back from his belief ( irtada ), openly or secretly, take him and kill him wheresoever ye find him, like any other infidel. Separate yourself from him altogether. Do not accept intercession in his regard”. Ibn Kathir in his commentary on this passage quoting Al Suddi (died 745) says that since the unbelievers had manifested their unbelief they should be killed.

Written by a man named Ibn Warraq, who aparently left Islam himself. You can say all you want about him having an axe to grind because he is an ex Muslim, but he is quoting Muslim scholars and commentaries. The whole article is here:

  22. I am a Muslim lady and I live in UAE, I thanks God every day that’s I was born here in Arab country and Muslim.

First of all, she is not origin Arab Muslim, she Indian from Sri Lanka. From poor city they don’t complete their studies, also from her accent I can see that she crow up in USA far away from Arabs and Muslim that’s why she has their mentality and Ideas about freedom.

Islam is a religion of peace, and it is not suffers violence people to convert their religion. In addition the relatively of people who convert to Islam is high rate each year more than any religion on earth.
Why you people upset from Islam?
Why it is the only one religion in the earth which bothers the rest of the other religions?
Islam is different than what they think. You have to read about it after that you can decide what’s better for you.
