A New Creed

Filed under: United Church — David Jenkins @ 11:20 pm

The United Church of Canada has a new Moderator, Mardi Tindal. According to recent reports, “She tweets. She’s green. She’s media savvy. She’s animated.” – all laudable accomplishments which St. Peter and St. Paul sadly lacked. In addition to a new moderator, the United Church has also invented a new language where “belief is a noun and faith is a verb.”

New Moderator, new language and, new Creed –  some would say, new religion. In keeping with modern family life, the Father is absent:

We are not alone,

we live in God’s world.

We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.

We trust in God.

We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God’s presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.

We are not alone.

Thanks be to God.

Indeed, we are not alone; The Truth Is Out There; I Want To Believe.

  1. Elsewhere Ms Tindal referneces Ephesians 4:29-5:2. I found it curious that in commenting on this passage she refers to, “the author of Ephesians.”

What is that all about? Surely she knows the author is the Apostle Paul. Why doesn’t she just say, “Paul,” instead of the awkward, “author of Ephesians?” Is she one of those who think Paul didn’t write it? Is it some sort of feminist thing? Or perhaps she doesn’t want to acknowledge that the one who wrote the passage of which she approves also wrote condemning sexual immorality, including homosexual activity.

  2. Oops… sorry for the spelling.

  3. John – good point.

  4. The United Church is, by and large, post Christian. If you want to see what the ACoC will look like in ten years, have a good look at the UCC.

  5. Ten years? That long? Parts of it are already there.

  6. John,
The UCC capitulated to the Gay Agenda in the 80’s. They are now well settled in to their heresies.
I expect that there will be rear guard actions fought in the ACoC that will slow the take over.
